In The Beginning...
H. Tim Hoffman founded the law firm in the early 1970s. Since
it's inception, the firm has focused on labor-law, representing among others,
the United Steelworkers of America, the American Federation of Government
Employees, the Communications Workers of America and SEIU. The practice
consisted primarily of labor-law related claims. The firm developed a
groundbreaking group membership plan, affording member unions the opportunity
to join, and obtain discounted legal services on behalf of their members.
As a result of this plan, Hoffman & Lazear has been able to provide union
members legal services in fields of family law, personal injury, worker's
compensation, and criminal law among others, at attractive rates. While the firm now
concentrates primarily on employment class actions, the program continues
to this day, and members of these group plans are provided
services at a discounted rate through a combination of referral to screened
attorneys and in-house handling of claims.
Hoffman &
Lazear,
as the firm has been known since 1985, continues its
long-standing tradition of defending the rights of American workers.
During the thirty years the firm has been in existence, it has handled a
substantial amount of complex litigation, including numerous class actions and
litigation involving employment related claims. Hoffman & Lazear has
handled precedent-setting claims alleging employment discrimination, sexual harassment,
violations of ERISA as well as other violations of state and federal wage and hour
laws. For further details, please visit our cases
